The Government of Kenya has now issued a closure notice to all Kenyans urging them to shift to the new health care insurance fund dubbed SHIF. As from 30th September 2024, Kenyans will have no access to the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). Starting the stated date, the government plans to fully transition to the Social Health Insurance Fund.
The NHIF CEO Elijah Wachira in a statement issued on Sunday said SHIF shall take effect on October 1, 2024 under tha management of SHA.
He added saying all payments made on or before October 9 shall be credited to NHIF while those payments made from 9th on wards will be credited to SHA.
Emphasizing on this, all employers have been urged to register all their staff members before October 1st as well as use the SHA employers portal for contributions management.
