Don’t lecture me on church donations

Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday, July 20, insisted he will continue giving out money to churches, saying he “understands what the Bible advocates”.

Speaking in Machakos Town during a fundraiser at the AIC Katisaa Church, the deputy president said those opposed to his acts of generosity have the option of keeping their money to themselves.

“We have read the Bible and, therefore, understand what we are called to do. Nobody should be forced to give to the Lord. Therefore, someone should not lecture us on what to do [with our money],” said Ruto.

The DP’s statement comes on the back of a push by opposition politicians to introduce laws barring a person holding elective seat from donating more than Ksh100, 000 in a single harambee.

The opposition leaders want any philanthropist willing to give out more than Ksh100, 000 per fundraiser to give details on where and how he got the money.

BIG 4 AGENDA

The deputy president said, contrary to what a section of politicians believe, he is firmly in support of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big Four agenda.

Ruto was accompanied to the event by ten MPs including: Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Charles Nguna (Mwingi West), Rachel Nyamai (Kitui South), Flabian Muli (Kangundo), George Sunkuyia (Kajiando West), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala) and Moses Lesonet (Eldama Ravine). SOURCE
